San Sebastián is an easy drive from Bilbao or Santander. Arrive by ferry in Bilbao for a drive of less than an hour and half or take the ferry to Santander for a drive just over two hours. San Sebastián can be reached from nearby airports but taking the ferry is the best way to travel for a relaxed arrival. It's easy to take a memorable road trip from Santander via Bilbao to San Sebastián or enjoy a day trip from Biarritz to San Sebastián and enjoy all the great things to see and do along the way.
If you love the bustle of a busy city and want to enjoy its hottest weather, the best time to visit San Sebastián is from June to August. This is the most popular time for visitors who want to enjoy the fine weather as well as summertime events and festivals.
