Check-in times:

Passengers must check in at least 45 minutes before departure. If you are checking in with a pet, you must arrive at least 90 minutes before departure.

Foot passenger disembarkation

Due to major renovation work in Portsmouth port, the passenger gangway is no longer available. Disembarkation from the ship for foot passengers is now through the garage and may only start 30 minutes after arrival. We advise allowing extra time for any onward connections you may need upon arrival.

From London, take the M3 or A3. From the Midlands take the A34 to the M3. From Bristol and South Wales take the A36. From the South West take the A31. These roads all lead to the M275, which takes you directly to the port.

From 29 November 2021, a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) will be in place in Portsmouth to make the city's air cleaner. This may affect your travel to the port, please check our FAQ for more information.

Train services between Portsmouth and London Waterloo take 85 minutes. There are also services from London Victoria and Cardiff. Portsmouth has two stations: Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour, both of which are close to the port. Taxis from the train stations to the port cost around £5. Please allow plenty of time to make it to the port.

There are regular coach services, operated by National Express, from the terminal building to London Victoria and Heathrow Airport. From London, there are onward connections to the rest of the UK. We recommend buying tickets in advance. Local bus services are operated by two companies: Stagecoach (bus 20) and First Bus (buses 8, X4 and X9).

It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the ferry terminal from the town centre and 30 minutes from Portsmouth & Southsea train station.
