What you need to know about Advance Passenger Information (API)

For travel to or from the UK, it’s now compulsory to provide Advance Passenger Information (API). This information is required by the UK government at least 24 hours prior to your date of departure.

You’ll need to make sure that every passenger travelling has provided their API before checking in.

How do I provide API?

Please visit our secure API website. To log-in you’ll need your booking reference and the surname of the lead passenger on the booking.

Enter Advance Passenger Information (API)

What information do I need to provide?

You’ll need to give us the following details for everyone travelling on your booking:

  • Full name, as shown on your passport or travel document

  • Gender

  • Date of birth

  • Nationality

  • Travel document type (e.g. passport).

  • Travel document number

  • Travel document expiry date

  • Travel document country of issue

When do I need to provide API?

Don’t worry if you don’t have all the information available immediately, you can always add details at a later date ( it must be complete up to 24 hours before departure though).

How can I change the API I’ve already provided?

You can still log in and make changes if you’ve already submitted your API.

Why do I need to provide API?

Once you’ve given us your API information, it’s stored securely on our system until it needs to be sent to the government authorities. The information is then transmitted through a secure network 24 hours before your sailing, then again if any changes are made and after the ferry has departed. After the information has been sent, it will be stored to meet API requirements and then destroyed.
