About Trouville

Trouville in Normandy is both a charming seaside resort and a picturesque fishing village all in one! Known as the 'Queen of Beaches', and popular with artists and writers such as Monet and Proust, Trouville was a fashionable seaside resort of the aristocracy in the 1800s along with its sister town Deauville.

Places to visit

Today, Trouville is a more family-oriented resort compared to its decadent neighbour known for the Hollywood celebrities and rich and famous who attend its horse racing, festivals and Barrière Casino. With a fantastic sandy beach that plays host to a multitude of different beachside activities and water sports, the seaside of Trouville is the place to be!

Kids will love exploring the Natur'Aquarium on the seafront, filled with fish, sharks and other creatures from every ocean in the world. Outdoor activities at the beach, in the sea, on land and in the air are guaranteed to keep the whole family busy, whatever their age and there are many here to choose from including beach tennis, scuba diving, horse riding and flying lessons. For the adventurous on land, there are also several walks around the town and coast.

Shopping and eating

Enjoy the fresh fish in the market, La Poissonnerie, which is brought into port every morning by the local fishermen and served in the restaurants, terrace cafés and grills in the town. Or sample some Normandy produce such as cheeses and meats, or buy some flowers and the wares of local craftsmen by taking a stroll from Pont des Belges to La Poissonnerie where a market is held on Wednesday and Sunday mornings.

In town, you'll find many antique shops, art galleries and clothes shops, or experience some culture by visiting the Musée de Trouville, which is housed inside the fantastic Villa Montebello on the hillside overlooking the sea. With a fine arts collection to help tell the history of the town, the museum has a large display of paintings and a gallery of the posters of Raymond Savignac

Explore the surrounding area with visits to Deauville, Honfleur and Caen. Or take a trip out to the activity park in the trees, Le Val des Cimes, or the Fromagerie Graindorge at Livarot where you can take a tour through the workshops of this famous cheese manufacturer. Don't miss the tasting session at the end!
