In a wonderful position right on the huge sandy Sword beach of D-Day fame and a half hour walk from the ferry terminal, the Hotel Thalazur (previously called Hotel Riva Bella) has a terrace and lounge with picture windows facing the sea. Ouistreham is convenient for an overnight stop either on arrival or before leaving France by ferry but there is so much more to this charming resort than just the port. The superb 3km beach with its dunes, pretty rows of beach huts and huge expanse of sand that gently shelves into the sea makes this a perfect place for a variety of watersports, horse or pony riding. The nautical centre near the hotel welcomes both beginners or those more experienced and you can try your hand at sand yachting, paddle boarding, kite surfing or catamaran.

Liberated by British troops during the Battle of Normandy it's a great place to stay for visiting the Landing Beaches and numerous D-Day memorials. If you don't want to take the car or go very far from where you are staying, the village itself has lots to offer and in summer there’s a real holiday atmosphere here with a great choice of restaurants, bars and cafes as well as a cinema and casino. There are 2 D-Day museums, one of which is within a bunker and tells the story of the Liberation.
