The Picos de Europa was the first national park declared in Spain and offers some of the most stunning mountain settings in Europe.

It is the perfect landscape for a self-drive touring holiday with good, well maintained roads and short distances from one stopover to another, ideal for a car or motorcycle.

This amazing tour has been carefully designed by our local experts who will not only guide you around the most well known places in Asturias, Cantabria and Castilla y León but also point you towards some hidden gems that would be difficult to find in any travel guide.

Our 7 night itinerary allows you to discover gentle trails, strenuous hikes, pretty towns, tiny mountain villages, an abundance of wildlife and tempting local gastronomy.

With this road trip you will enjoy the nature of the Picos de Europa national park including breathtakingly beautiful lakes and waterfalls, the impressive Fuente Dé cable car and not forgetting the important pilgrimage site of Covadonga. You can also explore picturesque Santillana del Mar, amazing prehistoric cave paintings or relax on secluded beaches.

Travelling by car is easy as the quality of the road network is very good and most of the motorways are toll free. Fuel is also much cheaper than in the rest of Europe.

Tours can start on any day from any town on the itinerary but must follow the route in either direction. Approximate tour distances are calculated from the first to the last location. Should any location be unavailable we'll advise alternatives.

Hotel directions

With your travel documents you will find an information sheet for each hotel which has been booked for you giving directions together with some further details.

Arrival

Unless stated, you will be expected to arrive at each of the hotels pre-booked for you by 6pm each day. This should allow you time to have a fairly leisurely drive between hotel stops but if you find you will be arriving later than this please ring and advise the hotelier so that your room is held for you.

Extra charges

Details of which meals are included at your hotels are shown on your travel documentation and on these pages. All additional meals, drinks, phone calls etc must be paid for prior to departure from the hotel.
