Parador de Cambados 4*

This former country mansion dates back to the 17th century and is in the centre of a pretty little town noted for its white wine called Albariño. Stone pillars and wooden ceilings provide interesting decor and the attractive inner arcaded courtyard is the ideal location to relax with a drink on warm, sunny days. Bright, air conditioned bedrooms, a good restaurant and an outdoor pool (June-Sept) complete the requirements for an enjoyable stay. Pets not accepted.

On the banks of the Arousa estuary, the attractive seaside town of Cambados is one of Galicia's most attractive although, unfairly, perhaps not one of its most popular. It is best known for its Albariño wine, a sweet, white wine with an impressive reputation and, of course, as such there are a large number of wineries as well as plenty of cellars/bodegas to visit. However, it also has an interesting old quarter which has been designated a Site of Cultural Interest and some very important and impressive pazos - traditional Galician manor houses. The Parador is one of these. Apart from the wine and the culture, Cambados can also be recommended for its cuisine, especially seafood, so there are plenty of good restaurants to choose from.

The Albariño wine festival is held on the first Sunday in August and is a celebration of wine, music, folklore and street entertainment.
