Marina Club Lagos Resort, Lagos, Algarve

The Marina Club resort is, as its name suggests, right alongside the stunning Marina de Lagos, home to expensive yachts and motor cruisers where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. There is a supermarket 100m away amongst small shops, bars and restaurants, and a short walk over the bridge takes you to the historic centre of Lagos with its many attractions and eateries serving tasty and good value 'menus del dia'.

The superb resort comprises two 4 storey aparthotels with lift and one 3 storey accommodation building (no lift) all attractively set around an outdoor lagoon pool and terrace. Excellent facilities include a nautical themed bar and 2 restaurants - a contemporary one that opens out onto the pool area, the other a sushi bar that opens out onto the quay, There is also a spa with indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and large gym - access is limited so a slot must be pre-booked at reception (adults only. 1.5 hrs per guest per day). Massages and beauty treatments are available too at extra cost.

The modern accommodation is attractive, bright and spacious with a view of the pool, garden or marina. Each apartment has a balcony, tv with some English channels and heating/air conditioning. Whilst the kitchens are perhaps not equipped well enough for the keenest of cooks, nor have a washing machine, there is adequate equipment for making a meal and you can use the in-house laundry service (charge payable) or if you prefer the nearest launderette is just 300m away (tokens can be purchased from reception). Free parking is available. Free Wi-Fi. Daily cleaning and weekly linen/towel change. Pets not accepted. A deposit is payable on arrival by credit card.

Lagos

Unlike many other destinations in the Algarve, Lagos has managed to cleverly retain its charm and culture whilst developing its holiday appeal for visitors and, as such, has become one of Portugal's top tourist locations.

It's a mixture of old and new with a modern marina, paved promenades and a pretty old town with cobbled streets and picturesque squares enclosed by 16th century walls. It also has excellent beaches, a fabulous diversity of restaurants and bars and, with every activity you can imagine on offer, it's not hard to see Lagos' allure and understand why it's visited year round.

Algarve, Portugal

With a year round balmy climate, it's no wonder the Algarve is Portugal's premier holiday destination. It has lots to see and do including many first class beaches and a rich interesting heritage as well as world renowned golf courses. And, even though it is heavily developed in places, away from the coast there are plenty of picturesque towns and villages to explore where daily life has hardly changed and commercialism doesn't exist.
