Hotel Mercure Dinan Port 4*

Due to its fabulous location alongside the pretty river Rance, the Hotel Mercure Dinan Port is a popular choice for visitors to Dinan. The town centre is a short but interesting walk up a steep but pretty cobbled street lined with half timbered horses and intriguing artisan shops. Its well worth the climb but for those that prefer an easier option there is a shuttle that runs in summer (every day except Sunday).

The hotel's position is no doubt its greatest asset but the Mercure Dinan Port, with its outdoor pool (mid Apr-mid Oct) and sun terrace, is also an ideal place to relax and enjoy your surroundings. Friendly and accommodating staff await to welcome you, spacious bedrooms are well equipped and after a restful night's sleep you can enjoy a buffet breakfast looking over the river. Snacks are available from the bar and for dinner choices there are many good restaurants along the waterfront or in town - you don't need a car to get there either. Pets not accepted.

The well preserved town of Dinan is one of those places where you can wander around all day in awe of its picture-perfect cobblestone streets of pretty half timbered houses and workshops belonging to local craftsmen and artists. Designated as a Town of Art & History, it is without doubt one of Brittany's most picturesque locations and also one of its most popular. Things to see include a castle from where you can start your tour of the ramparts and visit the museum, the 14th century clock tower which has the most amazing views over the town and surrounding countryside, and the lovely port where stone houses lining the waterfront have been turned into attractive restaurants and chandler shops.
