Hotel le Cheval Blanc 3*

On the main square in Bléré, the family-run Cheval Blanc is the town's only hotel and is a real gem. Full of character it has just 9 bedrooms, each with its own charm and style, and a fabulous restaurant (closed Mon/Tues) where guests are continually impressed by the exquisite cuisine and accompanying wine list which apparently rivals any Michelin starred restaurant found elsewhere! There isn't a bar but drinks are available which you can enjoy in the cosy guest lounge or on the delightful patio and, across the road, behind the car park, is a charming walled garden complete with a small outdoor heated pool (Apr-Sept). The owners and staff are all very welcoming and friendly and we are sure that your stay here will be nothing short of perfect. Pet accepted 8€/night.

The small riverside town of Bléré is within easy access of Amboise and the motorway and is one of the Loire's best kept secrets. It’s a lovely place to stay when visiting the region's splendid châteaux as several of the most popular are within short driving distance. And after a busy day sightseeing you can return to town and take a relaxing walk alongside the river or around the war memorial gardens, all gloriously adorned with flowers in season. And to relax, why not, enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the charming pavement cafés. There is also a fascinating renovated windmill that is open to the public at weekends that is well worth a visit.
