Pointe St-Mathieu on the western tip of Brittany is an area famous for its wild natural beauty and is rich in heritage and nature. It's a great place for walking with the popular GR34 marked trail nearby as well as the Iroise Marine park and things of interest include a 16th century abbey and museum, the national memorial to sailors lost at sea and the famous lighthouse. If you have the energy to climb the steps - and there are well over 100 of them - the panoramic views from the top are without doubt worth the effort.
