The ship also features a range of state-of-the-art navigation and safety management systems making it not only one of the most comfortable channel cruise ferries afloat, but also one of the best equipped.

The vessel was designed to replace the mv Duc de Normandie and would run alongside the Normandie on the Portsmouth to Caen route.  Her keel was laid on the 7th June 2001, and she was launched on 16th March 2002. Final delivery to Brittany Ferries 澳洲幸运10十168体彩开奖网 was on 11th December 2002, with her maiden voyage from Caen to Portsmouth taking place on 20th December 2002, departing Caen at 1615.

Mont St Michel owes her name to the well known landmark "Le Mont St. Michel." This extremely popular tourist destination is the home of an ancient abbey situated on a piece of land jutting out from the Normandy coast.
