This carefully designed car tour reveals some of the most amazing architectural wonders within easy driving distance of our ports - from the fairytale castle (Alcazar) of Segovia to the wealth of history in Toledo and the stunning university city of Salamanca.

It will take in some of northern Spain’s most incredible sites and landscapes from the ancient hilltop village of Lerma and a night in the ducal palace (now a Parador) to the beautiful cities of Segovia, Toledo and Salamanca which are all World Heritage listed.

This self-drive tour also gives you the option to spend some time in Madrid and the historic walled city of Avila along the way. A night in the lovely town of León and the charming medieval village of Santillana del Mar are also included in this diverse itinerary where you can enjoy the luxury of some fantastic Paradores.

Car travel in Spain is easy, the quality of the road network is very good, most of the motorways are free and fuel is much cheaper than in the rest of Europe.

Tours can start on any day from any town on the itinerary but must follow the route in either direction. Approximate tour distances are calculated from the first to the last location. Should any location be unavailable we'll advise alternatives.

Hotel directions

With your travel documents you will find an information sheet for each hotel which has been booked for you giving directions together with some further details.

Arrival

Unless stated, you will be expected to arrive at each of the hotels pre-booked for you by 6pm each day. This should allow you time to have a fairly leisurely drive between hotel stops but if you find you will be arriving later than this please ring and advise the hotelier so that your room is held for you.

Extra charges

Details of which meals are included at your hotels are shown on your travel documentation and on these pages. All additional meals, drinks, phone calls etc must be paid for prior to departure from the hotel.
