There are few sporting endurance events which capture the imagination quite like the famous car race held in Le Mans, France.

Lasting an incredible 24 hours, the race pits the world's very best car manufacturers, and drivers, against one another in the quest to complete the most laps within the time.

Each team has three drivers who share the responsibility of driving their car throughout this car race in France. Drivers must contend with whatever weather comes their way and also the tricky conditions of driving at dusk while the sun sets, at night and at dawn while the sun rises.

It is one of seven events held across the globe - the shortest race is six hours with the longest lasting 24 hours.
