The attractions of Comillas are close at hand and with one of the best beaches in Cantabria it's easy to see why it's a popular resort - it's perfect for a family holiday or break. This lovely town has a great atmosphere particularly in summer when the Spanish themselves come to stay as well as visitors from overseas. It has a charming fishing harbour and amongst its cobbled streets and pretty squares there are a number of modern artistic buildings designed by Catalan architects, the most well known of which is the must-see mansion - El Capricho. Alongside the beach is a cluster of cafés and you'll also find lots of restaurants specialising in barcas (huge platters) of seafood.
