BW Plus Hotel de la Cité Royale 4*

In the heart of Loches, a town of Art and History, the Best Western Plus Hotel de La Cité Royale has a panoramic view of one of the most beautiful fortified towns in France (400m). This former listed building from 1860 was the Palais de Justice and has been completely refurbished to create a magnificent 4* hotel with excellent facilities. With a view of the Cité Royale from the terrace, the bistronomic La Cour des Saveurs restaurant (closed Sun/Mon) is the former courtroom and offers home-made, inventive and contemporary cuisine which highlights the local gastronomy with seasonal products. For relaxation the old underground cellars are now a charming spa area thanks to its two vaulted treatment rooms and thalassotherapy pool with hydromassage jets which opens out onto a private English courtyard, also with views of the Cité Royale. Fully air-conditioned accommodation has individually decorated rooms all with shower/wc and parking is free in the large main square opposite. Pet accepted 12€/night.

Loches is a lovely medieval town with a château that sits on a hill overlooking narrow streets and picturesque houses. Visit the Royal Palace where many important scenes in French history have taken place or go a little further afield and explore the castles of Touraine, the vineyards and Beauval zoo. There is also a twice weekly market selling local produce, cheeses and Touraine wines including the famous Chinon, Vouvray and Saumur.
